先日自宅近くに古い工房を発見！
なんとそこは、伊達藩の時代から180年も続く老舗のだるま屋さんだそうです！「仙台のだるまは青い」といわれている仙台の伝統工芸「松川だるま」は、みんなこのお店生まれ。だるま本体の張り子を作った後、魔除けとされる赤い色をまずは全体に塗り、その後表情を描き、群青色で飾られていきます。そのどれもが写真の中の３人の手作業。そのため一体一体の表情が少しずつ違っているのも魅力的。力強くもありながら、どこかやさしくかわいい伊達男なだるまさんたちです。
I found an old atelier close from my house, that has been carried on over 180 years!! They are making Sendai's famous traditional hand craft, "Matsukawa Daruma," known as very rare blue darumas while most of them are painted red. After making the bodies out of paper, they first paint it red which is considered as a color to protect ones from evil, then draw face and put decorations in blue. All the procedures are done by three of them. So their faces are a bit different from each other. It's quite interesting to see and compare each drama's facial expression. They look very strong, but also somewhat cute and gentle because of hand made. Drumas are familiar characters to bring good luck rather than bad luck among Japanese.
来年に向けて、わが家にも一人来てもらおうと、だるまが奉納、販売されている大崎八幡宮に近々行ってみようと思います。
For a new year to come, I'm planning to go to Ohsaki Hachimangu, to where these darumas are dedicated to sell, in order to bring one for my house. Looking forward to meeting a very cute one!!
