残暑お見舞い申し上げます！
Late sumer greetings for everyone!!
２週間ぶりにこんにちは！みなさん、楽しい夏をお過ごしでしょうか？
It’s been 2 weeks!! How are you spending time? Are you enjoying this summer?
さて、ちょうど先週、こちら仙台では七夕まつりが開催されました。本当は日中の明るい時間に七夕飾りを写真に収めたかったのですが、記録的な暑さが続いたため昼間の写真撮影を断念。夕方涼しくなってから出かけてきました。
In last week, Sendai Tanabata Matsuri (Sendai Star Festival) was held here in Sendai. Actually I wanted to take pictures of the decorations during the daytime, however, I gave up because record heat continued. Therefore, I went there in the evening, after it became cooler.
仙台の七夕まつりは江戸時代初期から年中行事として行われてきましたが、太平洋戦争が始まるとその伝統が途切れてしまいました。終戦の翌年、平和と繁栄を願って、七夕まつりが復活。そして今年、その復活から７０回目を迎えました。
Sendai Tanabata Matsuri has been held as one of the main annual events since the early Edo period. However, the tradition was broken off after the Pacific War started. In the next year after the war ended, it restarted to hold the event with people’s hopes for the peace and the prosperity. And it was the 70th this year since the revival.
また今年は、東日本大震災から５度目の七夕まつり。たくさんの人々が震災からの復興や世界の平和を願い、その思いを短冊に込めていました。そして私も、来る８月１５日の終戦の日を前に、美しい七夕の星空と吹き流しの下で世界平和を祈りました。
Also, it was the 5th since the Great East Japane Earthquake. Many people wrote their strips of paper(to make wish), wishing a revival and a peace after the disaster. Before August 15th, the memorial day for the end of the war, I also made a prayer for the world peace underneath the Tanabata stars and the beautiful decorations.
