東京インターハイスクールのプロジェクト型学習（PBL）事例

長野県長野市にあるグリーンヒルズ小中学校。アメリカのミネソタ州のニューカウントリースクールが始めたProject Based Learning(プロジェクト型学習)を10年以上に渡って研究、交流をされてきた上杉先生が校長先生を務めています。東京インターハイスクールも昨年から先生を学習成果発表会にお招きしたり、ＰＢＬ養成講座に学習コーチが参加をしています。
今週末に初めてグリーンヒルズ小中学校の学校説明会と見学会に参加をします。ＰＢＬを支援するために組織されたエドビジョンが掲げた仕組みというくだりに大いに共感しました。

東京インターハイスクールには、帰国子女や新しい学校教育を求めてくる生徒、プロキャリアと両立する生徒、など多様な生徒が在籍していますので学習コーチたちのアプローチ法も個々に合わせた方法です。14年間生徒たちをサポートして感じる真実は「生徒たちの最も興味のあるテーマから取り組むと学習全体のモチベーションや士気が上がり、結果的には学力も目指す進路に限りなく近づく」ということです。
ＰＢＬと東京インターハイスクール。同じ方向を向いて、日本の子供たちの教育の選択肢の一つ（Alternative School）として一緒に活動を広めていきます。

In Nagano Prefecture, there is an Elementary & Junior High School called “Green Hills”. The school is managed by Prof. Uesugi who spent more than 10 years studying and interacting with the “Project Based Learning” started by the Minnesota New Country School in Minnesota, USA. We received him last year during Tokyo Inter-High School’s “Learning Achievements Presentation” and our Learning Coaches are taking Project Based Learning training courses.
I will attend Green Hills’ School Briefing and take a tour of the school for the first time at the end of the week. Since the system is adopted by EdVisions, an organization made in order to support PBL, I have great sympathy toward it.

Many types of students are enrolled in Tokyo Inter-High School: returnees, students looking for a new educational system or juggling with studies and their professional career, therefore our Learning Coaches are individually approaching them. After 14 years of supporting students, here is a truth I can feel: “When students work hard on subjects they are highly interested in, their overall motivation and morale raise and they will eventually and doubtlessly get closer to pursue studying with higher academic abilities”.
PBL and Tokyo Inter-High School, as an Alternative School, are going the same way and we are expanding our activities together to give children in Japan a new educational choice.
